Working at QuantumLoopAI
QuantumLoopAI is the team behind EMMA, the AI receptionist already transforming how millions of NHS patients reach their GP. We are engineers, clinicians, and operators solving one of the most persistent problems in British healthcare.
If you want to build something real, for real people, at a pace that actually matters, this is the place.
What We Are Building
EMMA is already live across NHS GP surgeries, answering patient calls instantly, eliminating phone queues, and freeing reception teams to focus on care. Every week, millions of patients across England interact with technology our team built.
We are past the early startup phase. We have a proven product, paying NHS customers, and real traction across primary care. We are now scaling, which means joining now offers both stability and the genuine opportunity to shape how the company grows.
Our Principles
These are the values that guide how we work and what we build.
Patient First, Always Every decision starts with one question: does this make it easier for patients to get the care they need? Patient experience is our measure of success.
Clinical Safety is Non-Negotiable We are building technology that sits at the front door of healthcare. We achieved MHRA medical device registration and DTAC certification not because we had to, but because patient safety demands the highest possible standards. We never cut corners on compliance.
Build With, Not For EMMA was developed alongside NHS clinicians, practice managers, and frontline staff. Our best features come from listening, observing, and iterating with the people who understand primary care from the inside.
Simplicity Wins Healthcare is already complex enough. We obsess over making our technology invisible to patients and intuitive for staff. If a practice needs extensive training to use our product, we have failed. The best technology disappears into the workflow.
Own Your Impact We are a small team solving big problems. Everyone here has direct influence on our product, our customers, and our direction. There is no hiding behind layers of management. If you see something that needs doing, it is probably your job to do it.
Evidence Over Opinion We make decisions based on data. We hold ourselves accountable to outcomes that can be demonstrated, not just claimed.
Remember the Waiting Room Behind every metric is a patient trying to reach their GP, a receptionist under pressure, or a clinician who needs better information. That context keeps us grounded when the work gets hard.
What We Offer
We are a growing company and are honest about that. We cannot match the benefits packages of large corporations. What we offer is something different: meaningful work, genuine flexibility, and the chance to build something that matters.

How We Hire
We care about what you can do and how you think, not where you went to university or which companies you have worked for. Some of our best team members came from unexpected backgrounds. If you have solved interesting problems, built things that work, or brought fresh thinking to complex challenges, that matters more than a conventional CV.
The hiring process has six stages.
1. Application Review Every application is reviewed by a person against the requirements of the role. No algorithms, no keyword filters. If your experience and thinking align with what we are looking for, we will be in touch.
2. Video Interview A short, one-way video interview where you answer a few questions in your own time. No scheduling pressure. It gives us a chance to hear directly from you, and gives you a straightforward way to introduce yourself beyond your CV.
3. Skills Assessment An online assessment tailored to the role. For engineering positions this is a technical exercise. For other roles it may cover areas such as numerical reasoning or workplace style. We send it with everything you need to get started.
4. Quick Conversation A 15-minute video call with someone from our team. We will learn more about you, what interests you about QuantumLoopAI, and answer any early questions you have.
5. Face-to-Face Interview You will meet a senior member of the team for an in-depth conversation. This is where we explore how you think, how you work, and how you would approach real challenges in the role.
6. Founder Chat A conversation with one of our founders about your aspirations, our direction, and whether there is a mutual fit. This can be in person or over video call.
We aim to complete the full process within two weeks and will always give you honest feedback, whatever the outcome.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do you offer remote working? It depends on the role. UK-based positions are office-first. Building a startup well requires the kind of spontaneous collaboration and team bonding that happens best in person. Some overseas roles are remote. Each job listing specifies the working arrangement.
Do I need healthcare or NHS experience? Not necessarily, but it is valued. QuantumLoopAI has hired people from fintech, consumer tech, and other sectors alongside doctors, nurses, and people with deep primary care experience. Genuine curiosity about healthcare and willingness to learn matters most.
What stage is the company at? Past the early startup phase with a proven product, paying customers, and real traction across NHS primary care. Now scaling, which means both stability and the opportunity to shape how the company grows.
Do you sponsor visas? QuantumLoopAI does not typically sponsor visas at this stage. If your circumstances are exceptional, mention it in your application and the team will discuss it, though it is not something currently offered routinely.
Can I reapply if I am not selected? Yes. QuantumLoopAI encourages reapplications after six months, or sooner if your circumstances or experience change significantly.
What is the team size? A small, focused team. This means significant responsibility and visibility from day one. Everything you do will count, will be seen, and will be impactful.
Do you offer internships or graduate schemes? There are currently no internship or graduate programmes.
Why are UK roles office-based? QuantumLoopAI is a young company still defining its direction, culture, and ways of working. Being together in person accelerates that process significantly. Remote work has its place, but for building a startup from the ground up, in-person working is preferred.
