How to Read These Release Notes
Each update includes a brief description of what changed and what it means for your practice. The Action Required column tells you whether anything is needed from your team.
EMMA — Consultation Tool Integrations
Accurx submission reliability improvement Released: 2 February 2026
An automated fallback mechanism was introduced for Accurx form submissions. If the primary submission method is temporarily unavailable, submissions now continue seamlessly via a secondary pathway. This ensures patient requests reach practices without interruption even during brief Accurx connectivity issues.
Action required: None. The fallback operates automatically in the background.
Accurx — NHS number included in form submissions Released: 26 February 2026
Form submissions for Accurx practices now include the patient's NHS number alongside their name, for PDS-verified patients. PDS-verified patients display in the inbox as: Surname, First Name (NHS Number). This makes patient identification faster for clinical staff without needing to cross-reference separate fields.
Action required: None. PDS-verified submissions will automatically show the updated format.
Routine Care enquiry submission via email fallback Released: 3 February 2026
When online consultation forms are temporarily unavailable or inaccessible, EMMA can now submit Routine Care enquiries directly via email as a fallback. This ensures routine care requests are never blocked due to form unavailability and admin teams no longer need to draft emails manually for these cases.
Action required: None. The fallback activates automatically when needed.
EMMA — Clinical Safety
Enhanced emergency detection Released: 17 February 2026
EMMA now uses the full conversation context — including all caller answers — to detect possible emergencies, rather than relying primarily on the current message alone. Callers who confirm emergency symptoms in follow-up answers now consistently receive 999 or 111 guidance. Emergency handling is applied consistently across different health query types.
Action required: None.
EMMA — Call Handling
Repeat prescription signposting for EMMA and SOFIA Released: 16 February 2026
EMMA and SOFIA can now recognise repeat prescription calls and redirect patients to the surgery's designated repeat prescription service. Signposting logic is consistent across both agents for a unified patient experience. This feature is applied only for surgeries that have explicitly requested it — it is not enabled globally by default.
Action required: Contact your account manager if you would like this feature enabled for your surgery.
Enhanced routine care handling Released: 10 February 2026
EMMA now distinguishes more accurately between requests that need same-day medical attention and those that can be scheduled routinely. Non-urgent routine requests are routed through a streamlined routine care pathway rather than the full medical triage process. Improved handling covers NHS Health Checks, cervical screening, vaccinations, long-term condition reviews, medication reviews, blood pressure checks, and other routine services.
Action required: None. Patients with routine needs will experience a shorter, more focused call.
Call recording improvements and centralised storage Released: 3 February 2026
Call recording behaviour was improved to ensure recordings are captured consistently and stored in one centralised secure location. The change reduced duplicate recordings and provided a single, clear source of truth for each call. Forwarded calls to reception continue to be recorded to ensure patient-practice conversations are fully captured.
Action required: None. No changes to patient or staff workflows.
SOFIA
Streamlined SMS invite delivery Released: Week of 16 February 2026
SOFIA moved from notifying patients via multiple channels to sending a single, clear SMS invite. This creates a more professional and less intrusive patient experience with no changes to SOFIA's functionality.
Action required: None.
Dashboard and Platform
CMS performance enhancements Released: 7 February 2026
Significant performance improvements were made to the dashboard, including faster form listing load times, accelerated real-time update delivery, and a more responsive interface during peak usage. Staff will notice faster loading across the CMS, particularly when reviewing enquiries and forms.
Action required: None.
System performance enhancement Released: 5 February 2026
Underlying database queries were optimised to improve the speed of data retrieval across the platform. Reports, dashboards, and date-based searches now load faster, particularly during busy periods.
Action required: None.
CMS user access and interface enhancement Released: 18 February 2026
Refinements were made to user access controls for improved security and role management, alongside enhancements to the CMS interface for a smoother user experience. These were backend improvements only with no workflow changes for existing users.
Action required: None.
