How to Read These Release Notes
Each update includes a brief description of what changed and what it means for your practice. The Action Required column tells you whether anything is needed from your team. In most cases, no action is required.
Dashboard and Security
Mandatory Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) for all dashboard users Released: 12 March 2026
Two-Factor Authentication was introduced as a mandatory requirement for all dashboard logins. Every user now completes an additional verification step — a one-time code sent to their registered email address — after entering their password.
This update protects dashboard accounts and the patient data they contain. It applies to all users regardless of role.
Action required: All users must enter the verification code when logging in. No setup is needed — the change applies automatically on the next login.
See: How Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) Works (article 4.2).
New EMMA Settings: Admin Controls, Auto Scheduler, and VIP Patient List Management Released: 4 March 2026
A new Settings section was added to the QuantumLoopAI dashboard. Admin users can now:
- Enable or disable EMMA instantly from the dashboard without engineering support
- Configure automatic scheduling so EMMA activates and deactivates based on surgery operating hours
- Manage the VIP patient list directly, adding or removing patients who should always bypass EMMA
A degraded performance alert is also now visible to Admin users if the platform experiences reduced performance.
Action required: None. Settings are available immediately for Admin users.
See: How to Enable or Disable EMMA from Your Dashboard (article 2.1), How to Configure EMMA's Operating Hours (article 2.2), How to Manage Your VIP Patient List (article 2.3).
SOFIA
Scenario-specific SMS messaging for disconnected and in-call scenarios Released: 5 March 2026
SOFIA now sends one of two scenario-appropriate messages rather than a single generic message for all situations:
- When a call drops unexpectedly, patients receive a message referencing the disconnection
- For all other scenarios — caller choice, poor audio, or practice-directed SOFIA flows — patients receive a neutral continuation message
This ensures patients receive an accurate and appropriate message for their situation.
Action required: None. The updated messages apply automatically.
Streamlined SMS invite delivery Released: Week of 16 March 2026
SOFIA now sends a single SMS invite rather than notifying patients via multiple channels. This creates a clearer, more professional experience for patients.
Action required: None.
EMMA — Clinical Safety
Comprehensive emergency detection for NINA across all consultation tool agents Released: 4 March 2026
Emergency keyword detection is now embedded into every agent across NINA's consultation tool flows. Patients are always given the choice to call 999 or 111 or continue their request after an emergency warning is triggered. Sessions ended via the emergency pathway are securely locked, and acknowledged keywords are suppressed for the remainder of the session.
Action required: None.
Safeguarding transfer improvement Released: Week of 3 March 2026
EMMA now correctly identifies and immediately transfers calls involving safeguarding concerns, including keywords related to domestic abuse, child protection, and vulnerable adult situations.
Action required: None.
EMMA — Call Recordings
Centralised call recording storage Released: 3 March 2026
Call recording behaviour was streamlined so there is one authoritative recording per call, stored centrally in a secure Azure environment. Bot-handled calls are recorded only by the platform managing the conversation, eliminating duplicate recordings. Calls forwarded to reception continue to be recorded as before.
Action required: None. No changes to patient or staff workflows.
Call recordings now end cleanly at caller disconnect Released: 3 March 2026
Recordings now end immediately when the caller disconnects rather than continuing to capture silence until a system timeout. This produces cleaner, more accurate recordings for audit and clinical review.
Action required: None.
EMMA — Call Handling
Duplicate enquiry alert Released: 11 March 2026
A real-time duplicate detection feature was introduced in the EMMA inbox. When the same patient submits more than one enquiry on the same day, a clear Duplicate Enquiry alert is displayed on the later submission to help staff avoid processing the same request twice.
Action required: None. The feature is automatically enabled for all practices.
See: How to Use the Duplicate Enquiry Alert (article 2.9).
Admin and Other enquiry handling enhancement Released: 10 March 2026
EMMA now asks up to four targeted follow-up questions for Admin and Other type enquiries, one at a time, before routing. This captures richer, more structured context so practice teams receive submissions with more detail and fewer callbacks are needed for clarification.
Action required: None. Patients may occasionally be asked additional questions during admin or other calls.
Transfer Sensitivity configuration for Beckett House Practice Released: 19 March 2026
Beckett House Practice went live with a 3-step deflection call flow. EMMA asks up to three questions before transferring when a patient requests reception. Urgent callers continue to transfer immediately.
Action required: Applies to Beckett House Practice only.
Speech recognition accuracy improvements Released: 13 March 2026
Improvements were made to how EMMA processes spoken input. Medication names are now more accurately recognised, clinical enquiries are less likely to be misrouted to administrative pathways, and additional safeguards prevent incorrect transcriptions from propagating into form submissions.
Action required: None.
QL Consultation Tool — PMS Integration and UX improvements Released: 17 March 2026
The QL Consultation Tool now supports full PMS integration. Clinical staff can search for patients by NHS number, date of birth, name, or postcode, view a Patient History tab, and write back to the PMS directly from the tool. Additional UX improvements include a global search, urgency filter, dark theme, admin and medical sub-menus, and session-persistent filters.
Action required: None. The features are available immediately for practices using the QL Consultation Tool.
See: How to Use the QL Consultation Tool Inbox (article 2.13).
EMMA stability improvements and call transfer fixes Released: 18 March 2026
Transferred calls are now correctly categorised, and a routing issue causing some transferred calls to appear as disconnected was resolved.
Action required: None.
